Advocates Slam Use of Freedom 250 Logo on Social Security Cards

Nancy Altman, president of Social Security Works, condemned the design change, noting that the document has remained free of political branding for 90 years. The cards, slated for infants born in the second half of 2026, feature a logo linked to a semi-private entity currently under intense congressional scrutiny. A new 55-page report from the US House Natural Resources Committee alleges that Freedom 250 diverted funds from the bipartisan America 250 initiative while soliciting massive donations from corporations like Palantir and ExxonMobil.

Beyond financial questions, the report raises alarms regarding data privacy. Investigators found that Freedom 250’s website tracks granular user information, including precise geolocation and keystroke data, through a design studio staffed by former Department of Government Efficiency employees. Altman warned that given DOGE’s history of mishandling sensitive records, the integration of these entities with Social Security documents creates a significant risk for the privacy of American citizens. The group is now demanding that Commissioner Frank Bisignano release all contracts related to the logo and clarify whether Freedom 250 will gain any access to beneficiary data.
